Unfortunately, it fell in the middle of the work/school week so we are all strewn about our respective parts of the country. But rest assured, in our hearts and minds, fireworks are flashing.

Despite the occurrence of a great holiday this week, there are some rather saddening events too.
The latest Mars robot has entered it’s final days on the red planet. Temperatures are plummeting, snow is falling, and light is diminishing as Martian winter sets in. Because of these impossible conditions, Mars Phoenix has been drifting in and out of robotic coma for the past several days. It served for over 125 sols (128 days), an entire month longer than what was expected. Phoenix served well, and will be remembered. Below, I’ll leave you with the Guy Fawkes poem, and Phoenix’s epitaph…

Oh, you wanted some GCSA news too? Okay.. let’s see..
Well, a new member will be announced soon. He has worked with us before, and has earned his cast pin well. In addition to that upcoming announcement, I can say that this December will bring an epic monument… to all of our sins, of course. And for the first time ever, technology from GCSA’s jet propulsion laboratory (GCSA-JPL) will be used in the field, to get the shots we need for this project. That’s right. Rockets with video cameras are required.
