Wow, thirteen days since a front page update… That might be a new record. Sorry.
In any case, I decided to get on here today and talk a little bit about three current events. The big story on the news today is this new “Swine Flu” that’s spreading faster than anything I’ve ever heard of. I don’t really know too much about it, but from what I hear it started in Mexico. So I’m waiting for Miller to finish up his sit-rep on this, he’s our resident expert in Hispanic affairs you see, and maybe once I read that document I’ll know more about this.
Secondly, I need to mention a few things about the recent trial involving The Pirate Bay. If you don’t know what TPB is, it is a website that tracks torrent files. Basically, they assist in P2P file sharing; which often includes piracy of programs, movies, and music. Even though TPB does not actually host any pirated files, the representatives that were recently put on trial were ultimately found guilty of their alleged piracy. Within a week, several other torrent tracking sites voluntarily shut down due the chilling effect this ruling had.
Does this have anything to do with the GCSA? Well, no. Not exactly. But I do want to restate something I’ve said several times in the past. Piracy is a good thing. It gets content to the masses.
Here at GCSA, we want you to take things we make. Spread our content, share it with your friends, pirate it… do whatever you want with it! GCSA isn’t a big corporation concerned with nothing but making money. We started out of nothing, and it just wouldn’t be right for us to try to be something that we’re not. That’s the end of my rant, now onto fun news.
It’s summer time! While that statement might not be entirely accurate, as it just official became spring a few days ago, it feels like summer. Surely some of our early supporters will remember that the ‘S’ in GCSA stands for summer, and this year will be no exception. There will be adventures. Later this week, select members of the cast will be at (31.18xxxx,-85.55xxxx) for a poolside cookout. Some new content will probably come out of that, as well as just a general fun time. Join us?
